Friends of Saint Augustine – 3rd ORDER
Friends of Augustine meet on agreed dates for Reflection of the Evening Prayer of the Church in the Priory followed by talk and discussion.
What do we talk about at these meetings? Well there is much more to the grand adventure of union with God than can be dealt with in a sermon at Mass, and the members seek to explore through the spirituality of that great master of the spiritual life, St Augustine. At each meeting there is a talk followed by a lively and entertaining discussion in which all are invited to participate. It ends with light refreshments and concluding prayers.
Third Order or Friends of Augustine are truly part of the Augustinian Order and participate fully in the benefits arising from their membership. For example thousands of Masses are offered up annually for the welfare of living members of the Order and further thousands of Masses are offered each year for deceased members. They participate fully in the fruits of these Masses.
Membership is not very demanding. All who would like to know more about and live in the spiritual world opened out to us through the revelation of Jesus Christ, I think would find that by becoming a Member of Friend of the Augustinian Order a rewarding experience.
